Day 13 - Panguitch Lake to Cedar City, UT
Bob Nasdor
Bob finds his keys
Before leaving camp, we played a little prank on Bob. We replaced Bob's bike lock key with some plastic toy keys that Jean bought in Panguitch. A few minutes later Bob showed up at the campsite asking, "OK, who's the smart ass?"

We got a good laugh out of it.

We got our breakfast at the lodge's restaurant. I got a large stack of pancakes.

Once, we finished fueling up, we began our climb back to Cedar Breaks. The next 19 miles were beautiful and challenging. The aspens were magnificent. The altitude kicked my butt. I kept stopping for photos and to recover my breath. Every bend in the road brought another photo opportunity.

We finally peaked out at 10,567 feet at Cedar Breaks National Monument. The monument looks out over a broad canyon with hoodoos and other erosional features. Jean, Dave, Duane and I took a short walk to see an alpine pool.

We left the monument, plunging 5,000 feet over 18 miles to Cedar City. What took the better part of two days to climb; we descended in about an hour. What fun.

We got a "kamp site" at the local KOA "Kampground". As usual, this KOA is nothing more than a big parking lot for RV's. And of course, they soaked for these "kamp sites". But, it's close to the highway so we'll have some lovely noises to lull us to sleep.

Chowing down at the
Mexican restaurant
Of course, Ken is staying in a motel. For once, I think he might have the right idea.

We walked down the street to a Mexican restaurant for supper and a margarita or two.

Tomorrow we return to St. George and begin the trip home.
