Yucatan Bicycle Tour
Day 13 Tulum

Tom on the boat
On the snorkeling boat. The ruins of Tulum are behind me.
As planned I went snorkeling this morning. Paul isn't a strong swimmer, so he didn't go with me.

The coral reef is an amazing place. There were lots of colorful fish. We saw a small barracuda, lobster and tiny crab that looked like a daddy-longlegs spider. After a while I started to get a little queasy. I don't know if it was sea sickness or if I accidentally swallowed some sea water. We were snorkeling right in front of the ruins at Tulum.

We also visited a place where water from a cenote flowed into the see. We could see the salt and fresh water mixing. We swam right up to where the water was flowing out of the cave. There were 3 people on the boat and 2 guides. We were out for 2.5 hours for 200 pesos ($20 US). What a bargain!

Road through the Sian Ka'an biosphere reserve.
The road through the Sian Ka'an biosphere reserve
After that, we took a bike ride south along a dirt road into part of the Sian Ka'an biosphere reserve. This is a huge place. We got see some wildlife including a strange bird that looked something like an egret. But, it wasn't white. It was interesting.

We are spoiled in Tulum. It is a close to paradise as any place I have seen.

Sunset
Ho hum. Another Caribbean sunset.
