Yucatan Bicycle Tour
Day 12 Tulum

Soldiers
The Mexican army patrols this coastline.
In the morning we visited the ruins at Tulum. Today being Sunday, we did not have to pay admission. We arrived early to avoid the hordes arriving on the many tour busses out of Cancun. Tulum is pretty minor, compared to other Mayan sites. The setting is spectacular. The city is perched on a cliff overlooking the turquoise waters and white sands of the Caribbean. I got some very interesting pictures.

Ruins at Tulum
Ruins at Tulum.
Tulum is a minor Mayan site. It was built during the decline of the Mayan civilization. However, the location on a cliff over the Caribbean is spectacular. Unlike other Mayan sites, Tulum was a walled city.

After seeing the ruins, we rode into town for some breakfast and to do some errands.

We returned to our beachfront cabana and spent the rest of the day on the beach. Tough life. I got the following email from my Mom.
