Yucatan Bicycle Tour
Day 11 Coba to Tulum

Our beachfront cabaņa.
|
We started early as usual and rode 30 miles
to Tulum. The road was flat, straight and monotonous.. We passed through several villages that
were not on our maps.
We ran into a couple from Belgium who bike touring Mexico and Central America. We spent
a few minutes discussing our experiences before pushing on. These were the only bicycle
tourists we met on the trip.

Clouds over the beach.
|
At Tulum, we rented a beachfront cabaņa for three days. The beach here is wonderful.
We spent the rest of the day hanging out at the beach.
Later in the afternoon some showers moved through the area. The provided some dramatic
effects with the setting sun.

A rainbow appeared over the beach.
|
There is no electricity in the cabaņas. I am typing this report by candlelight.
As I type, it is 28 degrees F and sleeting at home. I just couldn't resist sending
the following email to the folks at home.

Hi Family,
So I guess you're getting a little weather up there. You'll be relieved to know
that it's nice and comfy down here in Tulum. You know life is rough when you're
relaxing on a tropical beach. I think I'll go swimming first thing in the morning
when I get up. I'll be thinking of you guys shoveling snow and chiseling the
ice off your cars.
Tom
