Seattle to San Francisco
Day 6 Cape Lookout State Park
to Beverly Beach State Park, OR

I got up at six a.m. and spent a couple of hours taking care of various tasks around camp. I noticed a dime-sized hole in the fly to my tent. I don't know how it got there. Thank God for duct tape.

I finally got on the road around 9:30 a.m.. The road immediately began climbing. I was rewarded with a good view of Cape Lookout where I camped.

I stopped at Cape Kiwanda. Here I ran into the Germans and the two women from Edmonton. A few miles later, the Three Capes Route rejoined Hwy 101.

A few miles later after that, I left route 101 and began a long climb up the Cascade Head route. This rode took me through a nice old growth coastal rain forest on a very lightly traveled road.

I rejoined route 101 just North of Lincoln City. Lincoln City was congested. However, I did stop there for groceries.

After Lincoln City, I rode along Route 101 and stopped at several scenic pullouts. Shortly after Depoe Bay, I left 101 on Otter Creek Road. The road was closed to cars but open to bicycles. What a treat! The road climbed above the cliff edge with many spectacular views. It ended at this fantastic overlook. I can't begin to describe it. You'll have to wait for the photos.

Here's the photo I hope it was worth the wait.

Next I visited the Devil's Punchbowl, an interesting feature created by tidal erosion.

I made it into camp around 6 p.m. The two women from Edmonton are here. There's another couple from Edmonton, a woman from Germany and another man I haven't talked to yet. There is no sign of Wolfgang and Anya or the couple from San Francisco. They probably camped further North.

I'm tired. That's all for tonight.

Today's total is 66.2 miles.
